Reviews: I first saw this film with my son, Daniel, while my then-wife was recuperating in the hospital from delivering Tommy, my second son. Gee, it's been 21, 22 years since that film was out. where does time fly! I hadn't seen "The Rescuers" to date, so who knows what this Disney flick will do.
When I stepped out into the sunshine I was completely "blown away," as McLeach would say (sad that George C. Scott & John Candy aren't with us any longer).
When you view this film thru Blu-ray "glasses," you're in for a treat! From the opening credits with heart-stopping music, to the harrowing scene where Cody frees Marahute then falls from the mountaintop in what may be his death -- even a tear forms in Cody's eye -- to the radio message from Aussie to New York, all the music and all adenture is there before your eyes! Don't watch this film unless it is in Blu-ray format. ------------------- Cody, a boy from Mugwomp Flats responds to a distress call about a trapped giant Golden Eagle called Marahute. Freeing her, he gains a close friendship with the bird. However, Cody is soon abducted by the murderous poacher, Percival McLeach, who is after that bird which is of a highly endangered species and therefore an extremely profitable quarry. In a panic, a mouse Cody freed from one of McLeach's traps sends a desperate call for help to the Rescue Aid Society in New York City who assigns their top agents, Miss Bianca and Bernard to the task. With transportation provided by the goofy Albatross, Wilbur, the agents arrive in Austrailia and link up with the RAS' local field operative, Jake The Kangaroo Rat. Together, the trio must race against time to find Cody, stop McLeach and save Marahute. |
