Reviews: Ah, now I have it, I got the DVD! Warner Brothers just released that grand and glorious film "Lili!"
It should be kept in mind that it is drama, with a mix of romance and musical, much like the Oscar winning Best Picture "Chicago." I mean "Lili" comes to its first song 30 minutes into the picture. Leslie Caron, who plays Lili, is marvellous. Bereavement (mom & dad), sexual abuse, loneliness, joblessness, all face Lili as she begins her way thru the film. My heart went out to her in a big way.
The film ends with joy, so stick with it. Of course it won't be hard to do because Leslie Caro...uh, excuse me, LILI is a joy to behold. I feel like singing "Hi Lili, Hi Lo...." |
